While it's true, I very often refer Clients to freelance Copywriters just getting started or struggling...
I have serious contempt for folks who --- when it comes to getting clients-- rely completely on referals alone.
It shows you're not ready to hustle...
You're "hoping" referrals come your way...
Hope is your core marketing strategy And that's a stupid way to set up your business.
Yes, referrals are powerful...
And if you've got the street-level savvy,
You should structure mutually beneficial relationships that bring quality referals your way from time to time..
But that's NOT how you play at the highest level...
If you're really serious about having a consistent stream of clients
What you should do is set up your own Client Acquisition Funnel
Something you have control over
You could have an email list where you consistently acquire and nurture leads... whom you'll then pitch your services... (Done for you or Done with you)
Or in addition to that...
You can do some content marketing...
With blog posts or social media threads/content
Not just random content,
But problem-solution content that's ultra-specific, niche-relevant and shows your prospects...
Why they're not getting results (the root-cause of their frustrations)
And what they can do to fix the problem.
Use case studies and show examples too.
Makes it all the more valuable.
I don't know if this adds anything to your life, but I just wanted to let you know....
You'll get Clients more often when you have your own Client acquisition funnel, and you're putting your stuff in front of your ideal prospects...
Versus when you're just sitting tight hoping for referrals

The best way to get high-quality referrals without begging or asking is to astonish your clients....
Blow their minds and give them the kind of results and service they've never seen before...
Something they won't stop talking about, much so that...
During closed door meetings
Or conversations in their inner circle
Or with their friends who need the kind of service you offer...
Your name will be mentioned with all sense of excitement
P.P.S: Just last month, one of the folks in my high-income Copywriting Class (I think Tomiwa) did an 8-figure revenue for a project he's working on...
And his pay-out was over =N=1Million Naira
He writes ads for his own biz and he routinely takes on clients too
