Women can be funny...
Anyway now's not the time to tongue-lash anybody
To make the most of the few minutes I have with you this morning...
Here's a regular message we get in my on-going Class for Copywriters:
"OMG... I just got a new Client... what do I do?"
Let's start with a familiar scenario:
##:
A prospect you sent a pitch just replied...
And wants to set up a meeting with you
In fact, in their reply... they included an honest-to-god Calendly link..
With a polite request that you pick a time that works best for you....
Boy!!! You're excited....
New Client on your Clientele list.
But then.. you're not naive...
The Client is NOT a Client yet..
At least.. NOT until you've sent an invoice
They've sent you ya money
You've been credited by your bank...
And work has started..
In other-words...
NOTHING is certain yet
And you're aware the meeting you're about to have is only another step in the right direction...
And deep down, the anxiety is killing you!
You don't even know what to expect...
And you're just there thinking:
What questions will they ask me?
How do I answer them?
What should I say...?
How should I say it?
And very importantly...
How do I carefully move the conversation in the direction where my soon-to-be client finally (and happily) concludes we should proceed to work together?
That's scenario #1
And here's another scenario
####
Let's say you manage to ace the call/meeting
And you close the deal
And the client sends you your upfront fee (full/half payment) to get started...
But there's a problem...
This time, it's not the anxiety that's killing you
It's impostor's syndrome and fear of not satisfying the client with your work...
What's the first step here?
How do I start?
How do I even write this?
And how do I even know my work is good enough to get satisfactory results for my new Client?
Scary stuff
You almost pee in your pants just thinking about how you're going to navigate scenarios #1 and #2
Because you know.. deep down...
That if you don't get it right...
#1 The Client will end up NOT hiring YOU
#2 The one you managed to close will remember you with contempt and swear to tell anyone who cares to listen that you're a fake who doesn't know jack ... you just collected their money and did rubbish
Or you're getting a bad review from the one you managed to close.
But it doesn't have to be this way...
NOT when you're part of a community of new and experienced Copywriters always there to guide you every step of the way...
From helping you find prospective clients, to...
Showing you how to convert these prospects to paying Clients, down to...
Assisting you thru new projects...
Like... giving you clear outlines and directions on how to do a bloody marvellous job with every project you need assistance with
You even have your work reviewed in-house before you send it over to your Client/s
This way... even if you're taking on a Client for the first time
Or if you're writing on a new topic...
Or for a new market you've not written for before..
You'll still get all the help you need to satisfy your clients
Best part?
There's such a community available to you
Just one of the several perks you enjoy as a student of my on-going training for budding Copywriters...
